For NGOs & program teams
Turn local knowledge into lasting change.
We train your field staff, equip them with off-grid video gear, and stay for a year after — so your own team can keep creating and screening video long after we leave.
How a partnership works
Train. Equip. Empower.
One three-part model, built around what your program already does.
01 — Train
Video Education Workshop
A 4-day, hands-on workshop where your staff and frontline workers learn to shoot, edit, and screen behavior-change video in the communities you serve.
769 people trained across 49 workshops
02 — Equip
Camera, projector & solar recharge kits
Everything needed to film and screen video off-grid — cameras, cordless projectors, and solar charging, with every cable included.
4,700+ kits deployed since 2008
03 — Empower
A year of building capacity
Twelve months of capacity-development after the workshop, so video production becomes a skill your organization owns — not a one-time deliverable.
Local trainers run screenings independently within a year — zero illuminAid staff on the ground, across every project.

Proven impact
Does it actually change behavior?
Peer-made videos work because the messenger and the message are both trusted and local: beneficiaries see people like themselves modeling the behavior, in their own language, and can rewatch a screening as often as a community needs it. That combination builds knowledge and shifts norms in ways a one-time lecture or pamphlet doesn't. Results from UNICEF Equatorial Guinea's youth-led HIV-prevention program: adolescents made the videos, and their communities changed the behavior.

For "never use condoms," a lower number is the better outcome — both rows below moved in the right direction.

Backed by peer-reviewed evidence: video-assisted programs show higher behavior-adoption rates, reach more beneficiaries per dollar than print materials, and produce better recall than lecture-based training. See more case studies →
The equipment and the skills stay in the country.

It is much better on video than theoretical education.
