Video Education Workshops

Video Education Workshops are customized to the needs of each project.

Through a four-day Video Education Workshop (VEW), organizations build capacity to use video and mobile projection to strengthen community engagement and deliver behavior change communication.

illuminAid’s hands-on “learning by doing” approach trains participants to create, edit, and disseminate videos that translate behavior change curricula into accessible content for rural screening.

The workshop combines short lectures with practical exercises across:
  • Introduction to video as a tool for behavior change communication
  • Storyboarding and scriptwriting
  • Filming in the beneficiary community
  • Editing videos
  • Use of mobile projectors and trainings for facilitating community screenings with mediated discussion
  • Personalized consultation session to design video production and screening workflow schedule
Participants work in small groups (7–9 people) to produce one complete video during the workshop, managing the full production process from start to finish.
Training is led by illuminAid staff, Videomakers Without Borders, and Local Video Trainers. Participants learn core production skills including storyboarding, shooting, audio, lighting, editing, and dissemination.
Designed for non-technical staff members, the only requirement is basic computer literacy. During the workshop, illuminAid works with our partner organization to create a realistic video production and screening schedule. Follow up training sessions are arranged with illuminAid’s local video trainers.
illuminAid also draws on a network of 1,500 Local Video Trainers across 55 countries who co-facilitate training, provide translation, and support post-workshop implementation.
