Catholic Relief Services – Burkina Faso

With Ebola still a threat within Burkina Faso, the need for clean hygiene practices are critical in preventing the spread of this disease and keeping communities healthy and safe. According to the Center of Disease Control (CDC), more than 35% of the world’s population lacks access to improved sanitation. Rural parts of Burkina Faso make up a not-insignificant part of this percentage.
Partnering with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Burkina Faso, OMPT facilitated a Video Education Workshop to teach participants how to locally create local WASH videos The videos were mostly for school projects in the region. Executive Director Matt York, along with Program Manager Julia Hayasaka and two Local Video Trainers, facilitated the workshop for 18 local teachers and staff members from Catholic Relief Services. OMPT delivered eight camera kits, 11 projector kits and 11 recharge kits. The goal of this project was to teach the participants the basics of video production and how to disseminate their videos teaching the importance and timeliness of hand washing.
